As a father myself I understand the desire to protect our children. If your son or daughter is considering attending Baja Bible School and you have concerns about them living in the city of Tijuana, I would encourage you to come visit the campus and spend time with us in person. Many parent’s concerns have been dispelled by spending time in the city and on campus. We do our best to prepare students by sharing how they can be more aware of their surroundings. We have guidelines that will also lower safety risks such as a curfew and traveling in groups. We are mindful of the potential dangers of living in any large city and carefully train our staff and students to live as wise Christ followers in this city.
We live in an age where many young people are walking away from the Lord; taking several months away from the usual demands of life to spend time with Jesus and those committed to Him, may positively change your child’s life forever. I have seen the Lord produce much fruit in the students who’ve attended Baja Bible School. I ask you to weigh the value of a child living their life fully for Christ against the fear of the media’s focus on the “drug war” situation. Tijuana is a city where the actual situation has been exaggerated. It is possible to enjoy the cross-cultural experience and live and without fear here.
May God give you insight and wisdom.
