June, 2009 Dear Friends, |
|
| Addie: What have you been most challenged by here in Mexico?
Kelly: Being people-oriented, not worrying about what needs to get done but loving people by instinct rather than it being a task... even the people-oriented part (can) become a task - to be more concerned with relationships and talking with people rather than accomplishing a goal. Addie: Just for fun - what is one of the things that you enjoy most about Mexico? Michael: (laughing) Getting taunted by the kids (one of our friends, a 12 year old neighbor boy is making fun of him in the background). I really enjoy the food culture and the friendliness of a majority of the people down here... (you are) walking by, and you can spark up a conversation. Addie: Why has Sandals church decided to work with Baja Bible School? Cristin: We are trying to change the view of (short-term) missions (at our church) into one of learning, spiritual formation, and discipleship so when we go to places like this we use it as a platform for growth and to encounter God as we learn from the people in these settings. We ask you to pray as God leads students here this summer. Our board recently made a determination that we will start classes this coming September whether we have 5 students (our current number) or 50 students.
